Thomas Rose is a self taught artist and designer from Oregon, now living and working in Brooklyn, NY with his dog Chickie. Though having explored, materiality and inversion in past work, his current work primarily serves as an investigation into the unexplored artistic and design properties of Dichroic Glass.

Dichroic glass - glass with a thin layer of metal applied to curve light according to wavelength - reflects and transmit light of different colors according to angle of incidence creating a beautiful iridescence. This means that light passing through dichroic glass can achieve a organic gradient of color more elegant than any other method. When used as a sculptural material dichroic glass will often indicate slightly different colors to each eyeball, producing an enchanting effect on the viewer as one struggles to perceive one object as two separate colors simultaneously. These are only a few of the aesthetic uses of dichroic glass - stay tuned and follow on Instagram to discover more.
